8-17-08: The faithful Indiana fans packed the stands on "Back to School Night" at Plymouth Speedway this past Saturday night. The Lawmen Racing team got off to a good start when the #9 Hefty® Chevy took Top Qualifier honors.
In the first heat race of the night, Erik Gehrke's #9 got stuck behind a slower car and had to wait for traffic to clear and came back to post a 3rd place finish.
During the second heat race, David Cerer's #7 Buffo's Chevy got out to an early lead. However, on the closing laps the car slid high and dropped one spot. But David was able to hold off some fast cars on his bumper to finish second.
In the feature race, bad luck befell David on the start as he got stuck behind a slower car and had to wait for traffic to clear. As the leaders pulled away, David was able to climb the #7 Buffo's Chevy back into a top 10 finish.
The #9 Super Cup started 4th and jumped quickly into second place. As the laps waned, Erik began setting up the leader to make his move. However, the third place car of Mick Ellis #31 made his move on Erik at that moment. Erik was able to hold him off and regain second place but the leader had pulled too far away to catch in the final 2 laps.
The Lawmen Racing Team then drove back home to attend the Grayslake Days Parade. The team handed out hundreds of flyers, race schedules, and pieces of candy, courtesy of Grayslake CARQUEST. The team was able to introduce the amazing new 2008 Sign-A-Rama vinyl wrapped Dodge Charger! Pictures will be up shortly on the website Photo Page .
The team has no races this weekend so come out and see the Lawmen Racing #7 Buffo's Car and the Sign-A-Rama car this Saturday night at the Buffo's Hot Rod Car Show in Highwood. The team return to racing action on 8/30 at Plymouth Speedway.
